Carica papya L. can grow up to 10 m tall. Has white sap on all parts of the plant. The stem is cylindrical, has clear traces of fallen leaves on the stem. Usually does not branch if injured. The leaves are arranged in spirals and in groups at the end of the stem. The leaves are palmate and have 5-9 leaf lobes. The leaves are orbicular and the leaf veins are clear and prominent. The petioles reach a length of up to 1 m. The flower clusters are axillary. The male flowers are panicles while the female flowers are usually single. The fruit is a berry, with various sizes and shapes such as elongated ovoid or almost round, pear-shaped, and with a belimibing. The seeds are many, black or gray, covered by a gelatinous layer of sarcotesta.
Usage
Papaya is used to relieve headaches, color hair, reduce gray hair, treat hair loss and dandruff, shingles, skin diseases, asthma, wind, relieve vein pain and expel wind from the body, reduce gastritis, treat worms and hemorrhoids, relieve turtle fever, dengue fever, measles, and high fever, treat meroyan, tonsillitis, antidote to rat poison, care for mothers after childbirth, stove lining, bath for mothers after childbirth, herbal medicine, control high blood pressure and blood glucose levels, complementary treatment for heart problems, brain tumors, kidney stones and treat stroke.
