Description

This herb consists of the dried rhizome of the Zingiber officinale Roscoe var. rubrum Theilade plant. This herbal preparation comes in a greenish-brown powder, is aromatic, and has an astringent taste. Based on the macroscopic characteristics of the rhizome and plant, the outer part of the rhizome is reddish, while the inner part is yellow and has a pungent taste. The plant also features leafy shoots reaching a height of 0.5 – 1.25 m.



Usage

The rhizome of this plant is traditionally used to treat or reduce problems such as abdominal colic, flatulence, dyspepsia, anorexia, and other intestinal problems. Additionally, it is used to address cold extremities, a weak pulse, catarrhal inflammation, laryngitis, hoarseness, cough, rheumatism, allergic prurigo, as well as abnormal uterine bleeding.
